How do I create that backdrop? The DIY is just below and it’s so simple!
Pin for Later:
What you need for this polka dot backdrop:
Colored cardstock
2.5 inch circle paper punch
White thread or clear fishing line/jewelry wire
How to:
1. Punch out a bunch of circles in the color scheme you are going for. I used 115 circles; my backdrop was a little bigger than 4ft by 4ft. This took me approximately 20-30 minutes to make. (I forgot to time it!)
2. Measure your backdrop so you know the length of each strand you want to make. In my case, I laid out a bit longer than 4 ft of thread. I spread out my dots a couple inches from each other and taped them to the string.
3. Tape the strands a couple inches apart from each other and make sure to turn the circles around if the tape side is showing. You can also tie these to a dowel to hang if you don’t want to tape to your wall.
Take it up a notch by adding a balloon garland over the top or mylar fruit shaped balloons!
For the table:
Tutti Fruity Plates & Dessert Cups – Target Dollar Spot
Almost every party I do, and in almost every post I write, I say to shop your house for decor! That, I did! The mint striped table runner and side table cover are old curtains that were in a drawer, not in use. HAHA! They were Ellie’s bedroom curtains from the old house. But hey, they matched my party scheme! So before spending money, seriously think about what you have already! The party idea came from these $1 set of Tutti Fruity plates from Target Dollar Spot. And the $3 fruit garland I used as a runner down the table. I used an individual cupcake stand to prop up a white chocolate dipped Oreo covered in Fruity Pebbles.
Treat ideas:
Fruity Pebble Popcorn – This stuff is seriously addicting! Just pop a bag of popcorn and spread it out on a tray. Sprinkle about 1/2- 3/4 cup of Fruity Pebbles cereal over top the popcorn. Melt some white chocolate and drizzle it over the popcorn mixture (I did not even measure the white chocolate – drizzle to your liking). Let it harden in the fridge for 10-20 minutes. Break it up and add it to dessert cups.
Sorbet Floats – Add a scoop of sorbet to a glass and top with a flavored sparkling water! You can use Sprite instead of sparkling water, but I try to keep it low sugar since there are other treats too.
Stack up some Cuties and you’re good to go! What summer themes will you be trying this season?
